Why Order That When You Can Make it at Home?

I was watching among my favorite webcasts yesterday about an on the internet guild, and I discovered a scene in which the main characters meet in a local junk food place to discuss that they should cope with one of their visitors who has committed several infractions from the guild's rules. The guild leader is broke and it has been living illegally from his dead grandfather's social security checks, and therefore doesn't have lots of money. Rather than purchase a cheeseburger, he ordered a normal hamburger and brought along their own cheese, since he is able to save about fifty cents within the cost of the standard cheeseburger by supplying their own cheese. In another scene, he's shown pouring their own drink from what looks to become a two liter bottle of discount orange soda. It helped me think about what cost-effective it is to consume at home within the prices at restaurants.

When I had been growing up, I never understood why someone would order steak inside a restaurant. It had been so much cheaper, just like a full 90% cheaper, to purchase a steak in the grocery store making it in your own home. I still feel pretty much the same way. After i eat out, I attempt to find something which I may not have in your own home; something a little exotic or an excessive amount of trouble in order to smoke for myself, since it doesn't seem sensible to eat out otherwise. For example, at Japanese restaurants, I'll usually order something similar to saba shioyaki, or salt-broiled mackerel, because mackerel, as delicious as it might be, stinks even though it is being cooked, and it is the kind of smell that you simply can't readily remove out of your house. I'd much rather pay extra and eat that inside a restaurant than have our kitchen and dining area smell like saba for any week.
