Welcome to the World of Cobb Cookery

When the Cobb premiered in 2001, it had been hailed by Time magazine among the best inventions of the season. It has continued to evolve since. Starting life originally like a ceramic hot pot it's now a lightweight stainless miracle. 6 to 8 charcoal briquettes can give more than A couple of hours cooking time at temperatures as much as 500 degrees fahrenheit or almost 260 degrees centigrade. The look is such that just the lid gets hot, not your body of the cooker.

The Cobb is very compact and weighs about only eight . 5 pounds, under 4 kilos. In addition to using the Cobb regularly in your own home the compact design causes it to be an ideal cooker on my boat or whenever we go camping.

I first became conscious of the Cobb on the camping trip, where another camper was using one. After i saw what he was producing onto it, I was hooked and made the purchase shortly after the vacation. The unit gets used regularly in your own home as well on camping trips. I additionally find that the Cobb is good when boating. The galley on my boat is just one metre wide, so space reaches a real premium. The Cobb sits happily about the cooker space and effectively provides me with an on-board barbeque and oven. I will produce a full roast dinner with the trimmings basically want to. I do not use it for everything obviously, though Used to do at first!

The design from the Cobb is such the unit includes a fairly small central grate area, in which the briquettes go. This really is surrounded by what's effectively, a moat. I usually use wine, cider or beer in here. It keeps the meals moist and collects meat juices etc which forms the foundation of an excellent gravy or sauce at the conclusion of cooking.

In the house environment the Cobb bakes an excellent BBQ, and it is a real talking point. It is simple enough to supply enough food to maintain half a dozen people happy, while saving cash on fuel simultaneously. With the fire grate full you're only likely to use eight briquettes.

As you might have guessed, I'm a real Cobb fan and do believe that it is essential at home, camping or boating. I've got a series of recipes for that Cobb along with videos from the Cobb in action. The videos show the Cobb getting used in some pretty remote places. If you want to take a look at the recipes and videos you may want to have a look at my website.
